Where do I catch the ferry?

Anacortes Ferry Terminal, here is the link to the location.

Do I need a ferry reservation?
If you are bringing car, its a good idea to get a ferry reservation. Spaces for vehicles are released 2 months,  weeks and 2 days from your sailing date. You can call or make a vehicle reservation online. There are always drive up spaces on each ferry but you will have to show up extra early to get the boat you want. Show up an hour early to make your sailing reservation. Walk on travelers do not need a reservation.

Why can’t I make a Ferry Reservation back to Anacortes from Lopez?

There are no reservations available from Lopez returning to Anacortes and sailings are “first come, first served”. Each ferry back to Anacortes allows a certain amount of cars. Here are the car quotas for each return sailing.  We are happy to assist with navigating the ferry schedule.

The inn is 4.5 miles from the Lopez Ferry Terminal.

Can I leave my car in Anacortes and walk on the ferry?
There is paid parking at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal but there is no public transportation on Lopez. The island has a taxi service and the 4.5 mile trip to the inn is $35 one way. We truly encourage guests to bring their car as Lopez is large enough to require a car to explore the whole island.

Can I bike on the ferry?
Lopez island is known for bicycling and many guests park their car at the Anacortes ferry terminal and ride their bikes on the ferry. Getting off the ferry you will start the ride with a bit of a hill but the rest of the ride is very pleasant.

Do you have TVs in the rooms?
Believe it or not, we are a TV-free property. Most guests find this refreshing. Make sure to pack a tablet or laptop. We have very fast WIFI, so you stream your favorite shows and movies.

Is it difficult to take a ferry to the other islands from Lopez Island?
Not at all. There are multiple inter-island ferries that travel between the islands. You can park your car at the Lopez Ferry Terminal and walk on the ferry headed to Friday Harbor for free. If you are heading to Orcas Island we recommend taking your car due to the distance from the ferry to Eastsound; the cost is minimal. Many of our guest’s book extended days and use Lopez as their home base to visit all of the islands during their stay.

Does Lopez Island have a Farmers Market?
The Lopez Island Farmers Market is open every Saturday throughout the summer right across the street from the inn. Enjoy island farm goods as well as art and crafts from 10am-2pm.

Do you allow pets?
We do not allow pets including therapy animals at this time. Licensed Service Dogs are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are always welcome.

I am coming by boat, how do I get to the inn?
We recommend that you sail into Fishermans Bay and anchor, rent a mooring buoy or dock at Island Marine Center or the Islander Resort. We are ¼ mile from Island Marine Center and many boaters choose to walk to the inn. We can also deliver our rental bikes to the Marina. If you would like to set anchor, we recommend that you drop anchor just inside the bay. Then dingy to the county beach at the mouth of the bay and tie up to shore. The inn is a 2 minute walk from this location

Are children allowed at the inn?
Yes, we are family friendly and kids under 17 stay free in rooms that are the appropriate size. We are happy to discuss the best room to fit your family.

Yes, room 3 is the best room for wheelchairs or guests who need mobility assistance. A special parking space is available very close to this room with no stairs. The bathroom has a high toilet and grab bars and a bench in the shower.

Why are there so many Rabbits on Lopez Island?
Our rabbits are descents of a failed rabbit breeding operation in the early 1900s. Islanders have added to our population by releasing pets over the years. Rabbits have few predators on the island. Edenwild’s rabbits have become so tame that you can even feed them by hand.

Where is the best place to see Orcas from land?
Iceberg Point, on the southend of the island is the best place to see Orcas. We recommend packing a lunch and spending some time scanning the coastline for fins. Occasionally a pod of whales will pass by the entrance of Fishermans Bay and guests have seen orcas from the windows in room 5, 6 and 10!

What other marine mammals might I see from shore or by kayak?
Seals are a common site along the Lopez coast and some of the best seal action can be seen at dusk in the mouth of Fisherman Bay, a 2 minute walk from the inn. The best place to see Stellar Sea Lions is Shark Reef. River otters are commonly seen following the shore lines . Dall’s Porpoises which look like miniature dolphins can be occasionally from any shore as well.

I would like to go fishing on Lopez Island what should I know?
Lopez Island has so many fishing opportunities for all skill levels. If you’re looking for the ultimate salmon fishing experience, we are happy to arrange a charter boat. Odlin Park has a great dock for both bottom fishing and crabbing. Charters for halibut, spot prawns, lingcod can also be arranged.

Do you have a place to store our bicycles?
There are several bicycle racks throughout the property for you to park and secure your bikes. Bicycles theft is unheard of on Lopez.

Can you recommend some hikes on Lopez Island?
Lopez Island has some amazing hiking opportunities. Two of our favorite hikes are Shark Reef and Iceberg Point. Shark Reef starts as a wooded trail that leads you to a rocky coastal path. Colonies of seals and sea lions are usually seen scattered on a dozen or so mini islands just off the coast. Cattle Point lighthouse on San Juan Island can be seen in the distance. Iceberg Point is another outstanding hike on the far Southend of the island. Hikers must park at Agate Beach parking lot and walk to the trail head. A wooded path opens up into a vast meadow that abruptly ends with steep drop offs into the Puget Sound. A white stone monument is a popular waypoint but a trail will lead you around the entire peninsula of iceberg Point.

Can you recommend a sandy beach on Lopez?
The best family beach is Odlin Park. Huge sandy, shallow beach with picnic tables and fire rings. There is also a dock, boat launch and parking right at the water’s edge. Spencer Spit is another sandy beach great for families. It is a state park so you have to pay to enter and it is a bit of a hike down to the water. Picnic tables and fire rings can be found on a long sandy spit. Watmough Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the San Juan islands. The rocky face of Watmough and a coastal forest borders this cove like beach and on a clear day you are rewarded with an amazing view of Mt. Baker. Fires are not allowed. The most romantic and least visited beach is Upright Head Beach. A forested trail leads to a sandy secluded beach. We
