We booked kayaks from Edenwild and had the best experience! Jackie was super helpful over the phone and explained the best times to hit the water and Anthony got our kayaks ready to go and gave us tips on where to paddle. The kayaking on Lopez Island is amazing - we saw seals, eagles, herons, geese, and other wildlife and the water was so calm and peaceful. Highly recommend!

rented a tandem kayak for myself and 11 year old son. Anthony was very helpful, made sure our launch time corresponded with tides for best experience, got us all set, and answered all our questions. We loved paddling around during low tide looking at the sea creatures, birds and seals.

A wonderful experience! Owner Anthony was incredibly welcoming as he helped us with our kayak setup. He also gave recommendations for currents and animal sightings. We so enjoyed seeing seals with their pups and many blue herons as well as jumpers (salmon) in the bay. A very relaxed, hands-off way to see Lopez for those who have a bit of experience on the water. I must add that Anthony went above and beyond, loaning us a bike helmet when we forgot one. Enjoy your paddle with Edenwild!

Crab Kayaking with Miss Mina and Edenwild

Miss Mina and Mommy Oh go crabbing and kayaking with Edenwild! Watch as they show you how to catch Dungeness Crabs and Red Rock Crabs on Lopez Island, WA.

After a chilly but rewarding paddling session, we cook the crabs at the Edenwild Kitchen and enjoy them plain and also in a delicious Crab Toast with Aioli.

Kayak crabbing is a unique experience we offer our guests and our kayak launch is just steps away from the Edenwild, right on Fishermans Bay, Lopez Island.

Crab, Kayak and Cook with Outdoor Chef Life and Edenwild

In this episode of Outdoor Chef Life’s Lopez Island adventure, Taku and Jocelyn hit the water on Edenwild kayaks and spend the day crabbing.

Paddling out into fisherman’s Bay they let a crab pot soak and paddle to the shores of Fisherman’s Bay Preserve. There, Taku casts fishing rod with a crab snare attached, a tiny trap with nylon snares that entangle a crab when reeled in.

For this dish, Taku headed to Odlin Park’s sandy beach where he prepares a crab dip dish cooked over a driftwood fire. We can tell you that this crab dip tastes as good as it looks!

Fishing with Outdoor Chef Life and Edenwild

Taku, from Outdoor Chef Life, has combined his skills in the kitchen with his passion for fishing sustainable fare along the west coast. Jocelyn works to film and edit plus enjoys Taku’s unique culinary creations.

Taku takes you through a few steps that you must do immediately after catching a Spiny Dogfish Shark, a common catch here on Lopez Island. Bringing his catch into the Edenwild kitchen, Taku uses a red wine base to create a mild and extremely tender meat.
