Update 2024: After successful dinners in 2021,2022, and 2023 Outstand in the Field returns to Lopez in 2024! This year Flint Beach Ohana Farm will be hosting the event, expect epic water views! Josh Ratza will be putting the finishing touches on the dinner this year. At Setsunai Noodle Bar, Josh artfully blends Japanese influences with his passion for the Lopez Island agricultural community, featuring whatever is best in season.

2022: Following the success of last year’s event, Outstanding in the Field is returning to Lopez Island for another amazing dinner created by Nick and Nova Coffey, owners of Ursa Minor. If you don’t know what Outstanding in the Field is, picture the longest table you can imagine set up in an idyllic farm field with a meal served by a world class chef using hyper local ingredients. Their website sums it up as follows “Outstanding in the Field is a roving restaurant without walls. Traditional restaurants source ingredients for their menus; we bring our kitchen right to the source – setting our long table in fields, orchards, and along the seashores where the meal’s ingredients were harvested. We aim to reconnect diners to the land while celebrating the hardworking hands that feed us.” This year’s setting will be Lopez Island’s Watmough Bay Farm which is owned and operated by husbands Derek and Abe who grow seasonal vegetables, eggs and more. Along with ingredients from the farm, Nick will forage wild edibles such as cattails and reindeer moss. Tickets for the Saturday June 25th event are selling fast!

If you can’t make this event, Nick and Nova show off their culinary talents weekly at their restaurant, Ursa Minor. Nick is a semi-finalist for a James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northwest. Edenwild is so fortunate to be right next door to this foodie mecca, and we have guests from around the world stay with us just to experience a meal from Ursa Minor. Nick cut his chops in Seattle’s farm-to-table scene, where he wowed diners and food critics alike. Noting the quality of raw ingredients coming from Lopez Island’s farmers and fishermen, he decided to move to Lopez to open Ursa Minor 2017. Today, Nick takes farm-to-table dining to the next level every week with a seasonal menu that is a foodie’s dream. After an amazing dinner, let Edenwild Boutique Hotel host you for a perfectly relaxing stay on beautiful Lopez Island.
